Celebrating the Chinese New Year in NYC

The 2018 Chinese New Year will began on Friday, February 16th and will continue for over two weeks in typical celebratory fashion. This year marks the Year of the Dog on the Chinese lunar calendar, which brings promise of prosperity to those who are deserving! Indulge in Chinese Cuisine – What better way is there to celebrate the Chinese New Year than by eating Chinese food! If you’ll be dining out to celebrate the holiday, consider dining in at Royal Seafood Restaurant on Mott Street in Chinatown. Chinese New Year Parade – The annual Chinese New Year Parade and festival is taking place Sunday, February 25th from 1pm – 4:30pm. The parade will kick off in Chinatown on Mott Street and will continue onto East Broadway to Broome Street. Sop by to view feature musical performances, lion dancers, calligraphy demos, traditional Chinese face-changing and costumes. Shopping discounts from local stores will also be featured during the celebration.


Make Chinese Dumplings – Celebrate the Chinese New Year by making your own Chinese Dumplings at a Coursehorse cooking class! Master the basics of dumpling wrappings with different shapes and stuffing, and learn how to make your own dough at home. The class will take place Saturday, February 24th from 5pm – 7pm at the Hilton Garden Inn at 52nd Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues. Registration is $60 per person.
