Does the winter weather still have you down? Whether it’s raining or snowing and you’re not in the mood to spend time outside, consider taking part in one of the many fun indoor activities offered in the local Roosevelt Island area. If you’re lacking some inspiration, check out the listings near The Octagon below.

Indoor Rock Climbing at Brooklyn Boulders – Get in a workout while also having fun at Brooklyn Boulders, New York’s largest climbing gym located in Gowanus, Brooklyn. The gigantic gym features more than 18,000 square feet of bouldering and climbing walls, which even includes a 30-foot replica of the Brooklyn Bridge! If you’re new to climbing, introductory classes are offered at the facility that ranges from $49 – $89. For more information, check out the site below.

Shopping at Chelsea Market – Make your way across town to Chelsea Market where you can spend hours navigating the many shops within the market. Known mostly for it’s amazing food and produce selection, the market is known to be one of New York’s most notable food halls with over 35 different vendors. After you’ve tried a fresh cup of steaming lobster bisque, perfectly aged cheese or a strong shot of espresso, take some time to peruse the vintage clothing and item shops within the market – you never know what you may find!

Spend time at the Barcade – Head into Williamsburg to visit Barcade, which brings a fusion of all things you love about your local bar, and arcade games. Have a go at one of the 35 classic quarter machines games, like Donkey Kong, Galaga, and Contra, while enjoying some delicious brews. If you visit during happy hour (Monday – Thursday 4pm – 7pm and Friday from 2pm – 7pm), enjoy $1 off all beer, wine, and well drinks.
