Now that it’s finally warming up in the city, now is the perfect time to take your workout’s outdoors! If you’ve been sweating it out to prepare for the summer beach season, check out some of the fitness classes and activities taking place near the Octagon.
DUMBO Boulders– Looking for a non-traditional workout outside? Pay a visit to New York City’s first outdoor climbing wall at DUMBO Boulders. For $9, you get an all day pass to climb the different walls with a backdrop of the Brooklyn Bridge, Jane’s Carousel, and the East River. If you decide you want more than a day’s worth of climbing, memberships are also available for purchase.
Yoga in the Park – What better way to distress after a long work day to enjoy some calming yoga in the park. The best part…it’s also free! Head over to Randall’s Island Park to enjoy this outdoor yoga session Thursday, May 24th from 6:30pm – 7:30pm. The class will feature an instructor from Sweet Water Dance and will focus on strengthening your muscles while taking in views of the water. All you have to do is bring your yoga mat and some water! For future reference, this event repeats every week on Thursday from now until September 13th.
The Rise NYC– If you’re looking for more variety in your workouts, such as an instructor-led HIIT class or Bootcamp workout, then you’ll definitely want to check out The Rise NYC outdoor fitness classes. Hosted in a variety of locations throughout the city, The Rise NYC hosts one free outdoor class each day of the week. Classes include HITT, Body Circuit, and Core Body Boot Camp among others. The only catch? You’ll have to be ready to sweat it out at 6:30am sharp each morning (hence the name ‘The Rise’).
