Charitable Giving During the Holiday Season

There’s something about the holidays that makes you grateful for what you have, but also puts you in the spirit of giving. If you’d like to give back to your local community this December, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Whether you volunteer your time or make a donation, your charity is greatly appreciated.

Toys for Tots– Founded by the U.S. Marine Corps in 1991 as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit charity, Toys for Tots is a program that distributes toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children. Although Toys for Tots is a nationally recognized organization, the organization has local impact as the collected toys are distributed in the community where the campaign is conducted. This holiday season, it’s easy to donate toys at drop-off sites near the Octagon and at sites throughout the city. Check out the link below to find drop-off sites near you.

New York Cares “Winter Wishes” – One of New York Cares longest-running programs, “Winter Wishes” is a program that helps to provide holiday gifts for thousands of less fortunate children, teens and seniors that would not otherwise receive gifts this holidays season. To get involved and to help grant a wish for one of these less fortunate New Yorkers, please visit the link below. You can also donate to the cause any time on the New York Cares website.

God’s Love We Deliver – This holiday season, partner with God’s Live We Deliver to help prepare and deliver food to those too ill to shop or cook for themselves. This nonsectarian organization offers volunteer opportunities in their prep kitchen located in SoHo, as well as delivering meals to those in need. Check out the link below to sign up to help with the cause this season.
