What To Do for Saint Patrick’s Day Around The Octagon

St. Patrick’s Day is almost upon us- do you know how you’ll be celebrating this year? This year March 17th falls on a Sunday, so you know the festivities will last all weekend long in the city.  Check out some of the events below that are taking place near The Octagon.


St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl– If you’re looking to day drink to commemorate the holiday, then grab your friends and get tickets to the city’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl. At 1pm on Saturday, March 16th, the bar crawl will kick off at the Ainsworth Chelsea and will make its way to a number of top destinations, like Libation, Public House, Bounce Sports club and many more. Cronin and Phelan’s– Celebrate St, Patrick’s Day with a meal of traditional Irish fare from Cronin and Phelan’s, an Irish pub and eatery located at 38-14 Broadway in Astoria. Start off your meal with delicious complimentary Irish Soda Bread rolls and a variety of craft beers on tap. For your entrée, consider trying classics like Shepherd’s Pie and Corned Beef and Cabbage, or Cronin’s favorite Grandma Peacock’s famous potato salad to complement a burger.


Brooklyn St. Patrick’s Day Parade – Celebrating its 44th year, the Brooklyn St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a staple in New York that commemorates St. Patrick’s Day without the unmanageable crowds of the parade in Manhattan.  Taking place Sunday, March 17th, the parade will begin at 1:00pm at 15th Street and Prospect Park West and will make its way down 15th Street to 7th Avenue. Arrive earlier at your standing spot to observe the 9/11 memorial, taking place at 12:45pm.
