It’s the most wonderful time of the year for college basketball fans around the country! The college NCAA March Madness basketball tournament is in full swing and it’s time to plan out where you’ll be watching your favorite teams match up near Roosevelt Island. Check out the list below for the best places to watch near The Octagon.

 

American Whiskey – Boasting 32 flat screen TVs across it’s three floors, American Whiskey has you covered for the March Madness tournament, and if you’re a fan of whiskey – even better. The bar offers over 100 domestic whiskeys, as well as Scotch and Irish varsities. Basketball fans can also enjoy $4 Bud Lights, $5 Shock Tops, and $8 specialty cocktails throughout the month. Gramercy Ale House – Although known as a Villanova bar, Gramercy Ale House is a great spot to watch any of the tournament games. With several TVs and a friendly atmosphere located close to The Octagon it’s a dependable spot to post up to watch a game or two. In addition to drinks at the bar, standard bar-food is available, including their delicious waffle fries.

 

Halsey’s Tavern – Take a trip into Astoria to watch a game at Halsey’s Tavern, located on 33rd street at 31st Avenue. The bar will be featuring drink specials throughout the March Madness tournament, in addition to their usual weekly specials. This week enjoy $5 Cisco GRIPAH – Grapefruit IPA drafts while you watch the games.
