With summer only a few months away, now is the time many start thinking about fitness! Although The Octagon has it’s own fitness center with training and cardio equipment, you may be looking for a different workout experience. Check out some of the facilities located near Roosevelt Island below that may offer the training you are looking for.
Equinox Upper East Side – If you’re looking for a gym that has it all, look no further than Equinox. Although the upscale gym chain features locations across Manhattan, the Upper East Side location is closest to The Octagon. In addition to cardio and weight training equipment, the gym offers exclusive group training classes, personal training, pilates studio, spa services and much more.
Pure Barre– If you haven’t yet experienced of the barre sculpt craze, treat yourself to some classes at Pure Barre fitness, located on the Upper East side at Second Ave. and Lexington. Low-impact by nature, the 55-minute Pure Barre classes are designed to provide a total body sculpt workout, focusing on arms, thighs, glutes, and abs. For best results and to see your transformation, it’s recommended to attend 3-4 classes per week.
Yo Yoga! – If you’re into yoga, you have to check out Yo Yoga! located on 344 E 59th Street in Midtown East. Now that the weather is warming up, you can take your hatha or vinyasa practice outdoors by taking a class on the studio’s outdoor private roof deck; and if April showers arrive, classes are simply moved indoors.
